Administrative Assistant: The County Administrative Assistant position provides office support and leadership, under supervision, to the Extension staff and does related work as required to support educational programs in a variety of areas including some data entry and office supply management. Responsibilities include providing administrative support for the County Extension Director and other staff/program areas including Agriculture, Natural Resources, 4-H and Family and Consumer Science. Position interacts with other county departments (Human Resources, Finance, Budget, Facility Services, etc.) to ensure effective relationships with county government. Perquimans County Emergency Services has openings for Part-Time AEMTs and Paramedics:

We pride ourselves on community outreach by developing solid partnerships with area agencies. We invest in the community through our Post Overdose Response Team, expansion of our Mobile Integrated Health program, and Water Rescue Team, but we invest in our people too. Since becoming a Paramedic level system in 2018, we have upgraded equipment to reduce injury and increase provider safety. We support provider growth by offering multiple training opportunities each month and participating in various pilot programs and trials. Part-time staff submit availability for 12 and/or 24-hour shifts. We hope you will consider growing with us!

Elections Director: Grade 112 (Salary Range - $46,852 - $71,789) 

A person in this position performs complex administrative and technical work planning, managing and conducting federal, state, county, municipal and special elections; supervising voter registration processes; budget preparation; precinct official training; voter and public education; compliance with state and federal laws; and related work as apparent or assigned.  Work involves setting policies and goals under the direction of the Board of Elections. Social Work Supervisor III - Child Welfare:  Grade 118 (Salary Range - $62,786 - $96,205)

Supervision of a staff of Social Workers who provide direct services to clients in the areas of Child Welfare, Adult Services, and Day Care.  Work supervised is predominately at the level of Social Worker I A& T, Social Worker III and Social Worker II and requires providing considerable guidance to staff in case consultation.  Employee assigns cases to subordinates, coordinates work flow operations, and supervises staff through case review and consultation.  Employees are responsible for staff training, resolving problems and ensuring quality services are provided. Employees' responsibilities may range from a single sub-unit in an agency or institution to multiple service programs in a small agency and may carry a small caseload. Employees may provide input to higher level management on administrative, personnel, and budget issues. Employees report to a higher level supervisor or administrator. Social Worker III - Adult Home Specialist:   Grade 114 (Salary Range - $51,655 - $79,148)

The primary purpose of this position is to provide Social Work Services in the areas of Adult Home Specialist, Adult Protective Services, Guardianship, Adult Placement, Representative Payee Services, Special Assistance In-Home, and on call/after hour services for Adult & Children Protective Services. Social Work focuses on providing intensive services in serious and complicated conditions within the community and enhancing the problem solving, coping, and developmental capacities of individuals.  Work may involve investigation or assessment of alleged neglect or abuse; provide in-depth assessment of family dynamics and needs, intervention and treatment of clients or families with acute to severe medical and/or emotional disorders, mental illnesses and substance abuse.  Work may involve serving as expert witness at court hearings, social work interventions, instruction and education to clients and community.  Work may involve sensitive and traumatic situations such as removal of clients from homes, catastrophic and terminal illness, and/or family dysfunction.  Work may be considered a resource person for people in the community to help individuals become aware of the services that are available.  The primary function of this position will be monitoring the Adult Care and Adult Family Care Homes to ensure residents’ rights are being maintained and the home is meeting standards set forth by the Division of Aging. The worker will serve as backup for Child Welfare Services. The worker will report to a Social Work Supervisor for general supervision. The worker is required to respond to after-hours, on-call emergencies as this is a requirement of the position. Employee may be called upon in times of disaster, either natural or manmade to staff an evacuation shelter or handle other assigned duties.  This is a requirement of the position and failure to serve may result in adverse action. The employee will perform other duties as assigned by agency Supervisor or Director.

 

Social Worker III - Foster Care:   Grade 114 (Salary Range - $51,655 - $79,148)

This employee will primarily work with Foster Care and Adoption Services.  This employee will receive referrals; explain services available and process intake reports to completion.  This employee will also monitor all services provided under his/her direction to see that Federal/State policies are followed.  Work in this class involves providing intensive social work services in serious and complicated cases which require the flexible use of a wide range of social work skills and intervention techniques. Services are provided in a variety of settings including local human services agencies, public health departments, correctional facilities, teaching hospitals, medical schools, juvenile training centers, and state institutions. Work will be in Child Protective Services and may involve investigation of alleged neglect or abuse and/or dependency; providing in-depth assessment of family dynamics and needs, assessment, intervention and treatment of patients and or families with acute to severe medical and/or emotional disorders and mental illnesses; serving as expert witness at court hearings; or advanced social work intervention, instruction, and research in a teaching hospital. Work is distinguished from the Social Worker II classification by greater involvement in sensitive and traumatic situations such as custody and removal of clients from homes, catastrophic and terminal illness, and/or family dysfunction. Employees supervise and train lower-level social workers, students, and interns. Employees report to clinic managers, program directors, or unit supervisors. Employees may be called upon in times of disaster, either natural or manmade, to staff an evacuation shelter or handle other assigned duties.  This is a requirement of the position and failure to serve may result in adverse action.

 

Social Worker IA&T:  Grade 115 (Salary Range - $54,237 - $83,105)

The primary purpose of this position is to ensure that abused and neglected children in their own homes receive a minimum sufficient level of safety and care and/or removed from situations where that is not happening. Employees intervene actively in the environment on the client’s behalf as a provider of resources, locator of resources, interpreter of client’s need, mediator on client’s behalf, advocate for client and modifier of the environment. Employees act as a change agent, utilizing a problem-solving approach based on objective diagnostic study of the client in interaction with his/her environment. This is an advanced, professional level casework position providing protective, investigative, counseling and case management services for children who are at risk of neglect and/or abuse. Work involves investigation of alleged neglect and abuse, substantiation of the alleged neglect or abuse as prescribed by federal and state guidelines, providing expert testimony in court hearings, and following up with case management services for clients. Employees analyze situations and determine appropriate courses of action immediately or in short time spans and often under very stressful conditions. Employees may provide treatment to clients of any age and any developmental, mental, medical, substance abuse, financial or family program. Master’s degree from an accredited school of social work and one year of social work experience; Master’s degree from an accredited school of social work and completion of the Child Welfare Collaborative; Master’s degree in counseling or human services field and two years of directly-related experience; Bachelor in Social Work and completion of the Child Welfare Collaborative and one year of directly-related experience; Bachelor in Social Work from an accredited school of social work and two years of social work or counseling experience; Bachelor’s degree in a human services field and three years of directly-related experience; Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university and four years of directly-related experience.

 

Income Maintenance Caseworker II - Family & Children's Medicaid: Grade 109 (Salary Range - $40,473 - $62,014)

Employees in this class are responsible for the total process of determining/redetermining applicant/client eligibility in a County Department of Social Services. Work at this level includes such tasks as interviewing clients to obtain required information, completing initial applications, verifying the information obtained, determining eligibility or completing scheduled program reviews. Employees must explain program(s) requirements and options and advise or refer clients to other program services as appropriate. Employees usually report to an Income Maintenance Supervisor. One year of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. To qualify as an Income Maintenance Caseworker II, an applicant must have one year of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker I. The Income Maintenance Caseworker I qualifications are: Graduation from a four-year college/university; or graduation from an accredited associate degree program in Human Services Technology, Social Services Associate, Paralegal Technology, Business Administration, Secretarial Science, or a closely related curriculum; or graduation from high school with three years of paraprofessional, clerical, or other public contact experience which includes negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, the gathering and compiling of data, the analysis of data and/or the performance of mathematical or legal tasks; or graduation from high school and two years of paraprofessional, clerical or other public contact experience which included negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, gathering and compiling of data, analysis of data and/or performance of mathematical or legal tasks with at least one year of such experience being in an income maintenance program; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. The position will require an individual to work Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00. If the individual is not qualified as an Income Maintenance Caseworker II, the position occupied will be an Income Maintenance Caseworker I for one year. At the end of one year, the Income Maintenance Caseworker I will be promoted to an Income Maintenance Caseworker II.
